Regional Leadership Conference
by admin on Mar.13, 2009, under Upcoming Events
Last month, the brothers of Delta Chi visited the Georgia Tech Chapter for the 2009 annual Regional Leadership Conference. Led by the regent Bill Tallman, chapters from all over Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee attended the conference. Bill Tallman, graduate of Embry-Riddle class of ’95, was elected the regent at the 2008 Regional Leadership Conference in Tampa, FL.
The brothers attending the conference were sophomores Andrew Kirkwood and Christopher Hogan. Also in attendance were freshman Nolan Tenaglia, Stephen Hohs, and sophomore Kevin Sonta; all three are new members of Delta Chi.
The conference was held on the beautiful Georgia Tech campus in the heart of Atlanta, Ga. In addition to visiting the chapter house, we met with brothers from the Alabama, Augusta, Georgia, and many other chapters. The biggest part of the conference was the Dynamic Recruitment workshop presented from Phired Up Productions. Hosted by Matt Mattson, the Phired Up team gave us an interactive, comical, and innovative demonstration to an effective way for recruiting higher quantity and higher quality members. The closing dinner for the conference was wrapped up by closing words from both Bill Tallman and the national president for Delta Chi, Tom Horowitz. The rest of the trip was spent enjoying the chapter house and the Atlanta night life, followed by the six hour car ride back into Daytona the next morning.

Broomball

Every semester the brothers of Delta Chi like to do an event called Broom Ball. Normally it is a fun brotherhood event where all of the brothers get together to beat each other up in a friendly game that is a mix between hockey soccer and kick ball. Although most of us wake up the next day sore and bruised, with scratches and scrapes that we cannot account for, Broom Ball is in short our favorite event. The last two semesters, though, we decided to make this event a social with the lovely ladies of Theta Phi Alpha. It has been to our great surprise that the ladies like to get just as rough as us guys and also actively participate in this event. We hold it at Artic Zone ice rink located on Ridgewood in Daytona Beach. If you would like to schedule an event there like the one we hold there you can visit their website at www.arcticzoneicerink.com/
